7 Resources for You to Become a Safe Space

The holidays aren’t always “the most wonderful time of year” and can exacerbate negative or alone feelings. After the untimely passing of our brotha Twitch, I witnessed an overwhelming amount of people triggered by posts with shared sentiments of support; “if you’re going through anything I am here for you”, or “please don’t go through things alone, I am here for you.” Some of the responses to these posts have been, “nobody was there when I needed them” and “people say what they don’t mean.”

I believe humans are well intended, but don’t always have the tools necessary to support the ones they love. Throughout my 13-year career, I have implemented programming, collected resources, and attended various trainings to support emerging adults through mental health crisis, negative thoughts, stress and anxiety. Without the right tools, it can feel overwhelming.

As an advocate for Mental Health and through my own life experiences, Self MAED® (meditate align enlighten discover) came to be a safe space for Black and Brown women to grow, heal, and engage in self-discovery.
